So, ever wondered how you get to be King or Queen of Mardi Gras? Well here's how:

Candidates volunteer and form two teams. Each team is made up of a
King and Queen candidate, a Team Captain and Co-Captain,
Ad-Chairman, Financial Chairman,
Publicity Chairman, and many, many hard working volunteers.

After the teams are formed the real work begins. Each team conducts
various fund-raisers throughout the year.  Shortly before Mardi Gras a
"Count-Down" is held and each team presents its total amount
raised to the Board of Directors. The candidates whose team
has raised the most money are the King and Queen for the upcoming
Mardi Gras, the other two Candidates fill the position
of Grand Duke and Grand Duchess.

Please remember that all funds raised by both teams goes to
St. Thomas School as well as various charities supported by
The Carnival Association of Long Beach.
